SAN JOSE, Calif. – Myron (MJ) Amey, Jr. had a career-high and set a Spartans freshman scoring record with 32 points and Tibet Görener added a career-best 23 points to lead San José State (7-5) in a 118-43 win against Bethesda (3-11) from the Provident Credit Union Event Center to make the Spartans 6-1 at home this season.

- Bethesda beat Division I Cal State Northridge in their last game
- The 75-point margin of victory is the largest ever for the Spartans
- It was the first 100-point game for the Spartans since a 109-70 win over Life Pacific College on Dec. 10, 2016 and the 118 points were the most for the Spartans since that game as well
- The 20 3-pointers made are a team record (had 17 3-pointers earlier this season on Dec. 17, 2021)
- It is only the second time since 2017 the Spartans have had seven or more wins in a season
- The Spartans had a program record 33 assists
- Amey had a career-high in points, field goals (13), 3-pointers (5) rebounds (7), assists (3) and steals (2)
- Görener had a career-best five 3-pointers, eight field goals and nine boards
- Trey Smith had 15 points going 5-for-10 from three
- Shon Robinson added 12 points and Caleb Simmons had nine rebounds with nine points
- Alvaro Cardenas tied a career-high with seven assists while Sebastian Mendoza had a career high seven assists
The Spartans next game is also their first conference game of the season on Jan. 11 at Fresno State at 7 p.m. on the Mountain West Network and heard on the Varsity Network Mobile App.
