SAN JOSE, Calif.----- No. 11 San Jose State University scored first and never trailed in a 14-5 non-conference women's water polo win over Cal State Monterey Bay in a successful home opener for the Spartans.
A season-high 11 San Jose State 14 field players scored a goal in the victory. Clarissa Wandinger, Olga Descalzi and Lior Ben David each scored twice for the Spartans (7-6).
San Jose State's biggest lead in the match was an 11-goal difference, 14-3, with 4:48 remaining in the match on a Brooklyn Behenna goal.
Elaina Davey and Hannah Henry, making her first appearance of the season, divided San Jose State's goalkeeping duties. Davey helped the Spartans build a 7-3 halftime lead making three saves in the first half. Henry was credited with four saves in the second half.

• San Jose State's seven wins in 2022 matches the Spartans combined win total from the 2020 and 2021 shortened seasons. San Jose State picked up five victories in 2020 and two in 2021.
• The five goals allowed by the Spartans in the Cal State Monterey Bay win are the fewest goals allowed by San Jose State in a match since a 9-5 non-conference win over Santa Clara on March 24, 2018.
• For the second-time this season, at least 10 players scored a goal in a San Jose State match. Ten Spartans scored in the 18-9 win over Cal Baptist at the UCSB Winter Invite.
• Riley Agerbeek, who scored in the second quarter, has scored in the last six Spartan matches. She has 24 goals on the season.
• Besides scoring twice, Clarissa Wandinger was credited with two drawn exclusions and four steals. She is the team leader in drawn exclusions with 39 and is averaging 3.0 per match.
