Spartans Finish Opening Weekend 3-2

DAVIS, Calif. -
Jessica Giacoma drove in Jocylyn Vidal on a single to center field to go up 3-2 in extra innings, but Saint Mary's would respond with two runs of their own and San José State softball (3-2, 0-0 Mountain West) would drop its final game of the weekend, 4-3, to the Gaels (2-2, 0-0 Western Athletic Conference) in 9 innings. Giacoma and Jillian Figueroa led the Spartans offensively each going 2-4 with one RBI. 


  • The Spartans recorded 12 hits - Giacoma, Figueroa, Trenity Edwards and Ashley Rico each had two hits
  • Lacie Ham (1-1) was in the circle for San José State for 8 complete innings and faced two batters in the 9th 
  • SJSU is had a batting average of  .320 on opening weekend
