Spartans Win Two More MPSF Weekly Honors

SAN JOSE, Calif.—San José State women's gymnasts Jada Mazury and Alexa Solomon were honored as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast and Specialist of the Week, respectively, for their performances against Air Force last week.
 
Jada Mazury, Jr., Calgary, Alberta

  • Won two event titles and the all-around title in Friday night's meet against Air Force
  • Tied for first on bars with a 9.900
  • Won her first collegiate floor title with a career-best 9.925 and is only one of three gymnasts in the MPSF to receive a 9.925 on floor this season
  • Won the all-around with a 39.350, the highest all-around score in the MPSF this season



 
Alexa Solomon, Jr., Newbury Park, Calif.

  • Career-best 9.900 on bars against Air Force to win her second bars title of the season
  • One of only two gymnasts in the MPSF to score a 9.900 or better on bars this season



 
Mazury and Solomon helped the Spartan bars team break the school record with a 49.350, the second-highest bars score in MPSF history. The team scored a 195.975 for the meet, tying for the second-best team score in school history and T8th in MPSF history
 
San José State competes this Friday in a quad meet hosted by Sacramento State. The meet features the Spartans, the Hornets, Alaska Anchorage and Texas Woman's beginning at 7 p.m.
