FRESNO, Calif.----- It was a 30-goal day for the San Jose State University women's water polo team on its second day at the Fresno State Invitational. Or, from a defensive perspective, the Spartans allowed just 13 goals in two matches.
The No.11-ranked San Jose State (9-8) came away with a split easily handling Fresno Pacific, 21-1, in its morning match before losing 12-9 to host and No.8-ranked Fresno State (9-7) in the nightcap. For the weekend, the Spartans split four matches and returned to San Jose still above the .500 mark for th season.
San Jose State dominated Fresno Pacific (1-8) from the opening sprint and kept the Sunbirds off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter when it led 19-0.
The Spartans also got off to a fast start against Fresno State, but the Bulldogs caught up by the end of the first quarter and pulled away in the second quarter out-scoring San Jose State, 4-0, for an 8-3 halftime lead.
Elaina Davey and Hannah Henry each played a complete match in goal and was credited with six saves for the Spartans in their contest. Davey was the goalkeeper in the Fresno Pacific win and Henry worked against Fresno State.

• San Jose State 21 goals are the most scored by the Spartans in a match since a 20-3 win over Occidental on Feb. 19, 2017.
• Fresno Pacific's one goal is the fewest scored against the Spartans in a contest since a 20-1 win over Redlands on March 22, 2015.
• For the third time this season, San Jose State had at least 10 players score in a match.
• Lior Ben David recorded a personal single-match best five goals to lead the offensive attack
• Cila David and Olga Descalzi, with three, and two each by Riley Agerbeek, Lauren Woolley and Renee Fleming gave the Spartans six multiple goal scorers against Fresno Pacific
• Goalkeeper Elaina Davey was credited with six saves in the win.

• San Jose State scored the first two goals but trailed 4-3 at the end of the first quarter.
• For the regular season, San Jose State finishes 1-2 in the three matches it played against Fresno State in four weekends.
• The Spartans had 16 power-play chances and converted just five times.
• Lauren Woolley matched her season-high of three goals to lead the Spartans in goal scoring. She finished the tournament scoring nine times in four matches.
• After scoring five goals in the Fresno Pacific win, Lior Ben David switched her role to facilitator and was credited with a team-high three assists.
• Riley Agerbeek extended her consecutive match goal scoring streak to 10 contests with her fourth two-goal output of the weekend.
• Goalkeeper Hannah Henry stopped six Fresno State shots on goal.
