SAN JOSE, Calif.—Madeline Boerstra and Chloe Culver won the deciding point as the San José State beach team defeated Santa Clara 3-2 Saturday afternoon at the team split duals Saturday at Spartan Beach. The Spartans fell in the first dual, 3-2, against Utah.
- Against Utah, Boerstra and Culver won in straight sets for the team's first point.
- Jaida Ward and Amethyst Harper needed three sets to win, 7-21, 21-12, 15-13, to record the second point.
- Versus the Broncos, Cheyenne Rice and Allison Pereira won in straight sets for SJSU's first point of the dual.
- Alyssa Sugai and Kacy Hele then won at number five, needing three sets and extra time in the 21-15, 12-21, 22-20 victory.
- Boerstra and Culver then won 21-16, 21-17, to clinch the win.
San José State is now 2-2 on the season and plays at Saint Mary's on Tuesday, March 1, beginning at 2 p.m.
