Spartans Fall To Stanford In Quarterfinals of MPSF Tournament

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Six different Spartans scored for San José State as the women's water polo team opened the 2022 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament Friday with a 24-6 loss to #2-seed and second-ranked Stanford at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center on the USC campus.
 

  • Olga Descalzi got the Spartans on the board in the first quarter with an even-strength goal.
  • The Spartans scored three times in the second quarter with even-strength goals by Lior Ben David, Lauren Woolley, Clarissa Wandinger.
  • Cila David and Riley Agerbeek scored the final two goals of the game in the fourth quarter.
  • Hannah Henry and Elaina Davey split time in the goal for San José State. Henry made five saves in the first half.
  • San José State took 25 shots in the match, but were 0-for-13 on the power play. 

The Spartans play #6-seed Indiana Sunday at 11 a.m., in a the fifth-place game.
