LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Six different Spartans scored for San José State as the women's water polo team opened the 2022 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament Friday with a 24-6 loss to #2-seed and second-ranked Stanford at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center on the USC campus.
- Olga Descalzi got the Spartans on the board in the first quarter with an even-strength goal.
- The Spartans scored three times in the second quarter with even-strength goals by Lior Ben David, Lauren Woolley, Clarissa Wandinger.
- Cila David and Riley Agerbeek scored the final two goals of the game in the fourth quarter.
- Hannah Henry and Elaina Davey split time in the goal for San José State. Henry made five saves in the first half.
- San José State took 25 shots in the match, but were 0-for-13 on the power play.
The Spartans play #6-seed Indiana Sunday at 11 a.m., in a the fifth-place game.
