LOGAN, Utah—Taylor Squires drove in two and scored a run in the Spartans five-run third inning, but the San José State softball team was held scoreless in the other six innings in the 6-5 loss at Utah State Saturday to conclude the 2022 season.

- Squires was responsible for three of the team's five runs on the day. With the bases loaded, she singled up the middle to drive home Aneesa Almaguer and Malia Luna.
- With one out, Jenessa Ullegue grounded out and Squires scored from third base for the team's fifth run of the third inning.
- Alyssa Graham drove in the first Spartan run of the game by being patient and the plate and drawing a bases-loaded walk and scoring Jocylyn Vidal from third.
- Graham eventually scored on a Karizma Bergesen ground out to second to make the score 4-1.
- Patience at the plate was key for Graham on Saturday as she drew three walks in four plate appearances.
- Vidal finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored.
- In the circle, three Spartans each pitched two innings – Caroline Bowman, Ashley Goard and Lacie Ham.
- Bowman made her 28th appearance and 24th start of the season in the circle. She allowed four hits and one earned run and struck out one in facing nine batters. For the season, Bowman struck out a career-high 83 batters.
- For her five-year Spartan career, Bowman made 120 appearances in the circle and started 87 games with a 34-30 record in 469 innings pitched. She struck out 260 batters and recorded three saves.
- Goard pitched the third and fourth innings, allowing two hits and two earned runs.
- Ham pitched the final two innings as she gave up two hits and three runs while striking out three.

San José State finishes the year with a 22-29 overall record and a 7-17 Mountain West mark. The team tied with Nevada for seventh in the MW standings.
