Spartans Have Big Final Day at Mountain West Championships

CLOVIS, Calif. –
 Gabby Spencer set a personal and school record of 23.19 seconds on her way to winning the women's 200m dash and Micah Hairston set a personal record of 13.90 seconds on his way to winning the men's 110m hurdles to lead San José State in the final day of the 2022 Mountain West Outdoor Championships on Saturday.

  • Spencer is the first women's champion for SJSU since joining the Mountain West
  • Spencer came in third in the women's 100m dash with a personal and school record of 11.58 seconds
  • Spencer and Hairston were both named team MVP's by Coach Ryan and both qualified for the NCAA Championships
  • Emilia Sjostrand jumped 12.77m (41' 10 ¾") in the women's triple jump which was good for second and has qualified for the NCAA Championships
  • Sydney Bentley finished fifth in the women's 400m dash with a time of 53.64 seconds
  • Lina Schubert cleared 1.68m (5' 6") to finish fifth in the women's high jump
  • SJSU came in second in the men's 400m relay with a season best time of 40.62 seconds and third in the men's 1600m relay with a season best time of 3:12.94
  • SJSU came in third in the women's 400m relay with a time of 46.00 seconds and third in the women's 1600m relay with a season best and school record time of 3:40.48
  • The Spartans leave the Mountain West Championships with three first place finishes for the first time (Spencer, Hairston and Bryan Quintero who won the hammer throw on Friday)
