Thirteen Spartans Make 2022 Outdoor Track & Field All-Mountain West

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Jalen Adams, Bashar Barksdale, Sydney Bentley, Dariya Greene, Micah Hairston, Kaiya Johnson, Paul McCants, Harry Overstreet, Bryan Quintero, Emilia Sjostrand, Bryson Smith, Gabby Spencer and Mikael Tyler were all named 2022 Outdoor Track & Field All-Mountain West following the Mountain West Outdoor Championships last weekend. 

The Spartans left the championships with three first place finishes for the first time ever (Spencer, Hairston and Quintero) 

Jalen Adams

  • Came in second in the men's 400m relay with a season best time of 40.62 seconds

Bashar Barksdale

  • Came in second in the men's 400m relay with a season best time of 40.62 seconds and third in the men's 1600m relay with a season best time of 3:12.94

Sydney Bentley

  • Came in third in the women's 1600m relay with a season best and school record time of 3:40.48

Daryia Greene

  • Came in third in the women's 1600m relay with a season best and school record time of 3:40.48

Micah Hairston

  • Named team MVP by Coach Ryan and qualified for the NCAA Championships in 110m hurdles
  • Set a personal record of 13.90 seconds on his way to winning the men's 110m hurdles
  • Came in second in the men's 400m relay with a season best time of 40.62 seconds and third in the men's 1600m relay with a season best time of 3:12.94

Kaiya Johnson

  • Came in third in the women's 1600m relay with a season best and school record time of 3:40.48

Paul McCants

  • Came in second in the men's 400m relay with a season best time of 40.62 seconds

Harry Overstreet

  • Came in third in the men's 1600m relay with a season best time of 3:12.94

Bryan Quintero

  • Threw a career-best 62.06m (203' 7") to win the hammer throw and qualified for the NCAA Championships

Emilia Sjostrand

  • Jumped 12.77m (41' 10 ¾") in the women's triple jump which was good for second and qualified for the NCAA Championships

Bryson Smith

  • Tied a career-best of 57.27m (187' 10") to come in third in the hammer throw

Gabby Spencer

  • Set a personal and school record of 23.19 seconds on her way to winning the women's 200m dash
  • Qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200m dash
  • Came in third in the women's 100m dash with a personal and school record of 11.58 seconds
  • Came in third in the women's 1600m relay with a season best and school record time of 3:40.48

Mikael Tyler

  • Came in third in the men's 1600m relay with a season best time of 3:12.94

Bentley, Hairston, Mahkaia Lee (long jump), Quintero, Sjostrand and Spencer now prepare for the NCAA Championships West Regional starting May 25 in Fayetteville, Ark.
