Spartans Earn ITA Academic Honors

SAN JOSE, Calif.—The San José State women's tennis team continued to show why they are Champions in the Classroom as the team received 2022 Division I Women's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete and All-Academic Team recognition.
 
Five Spartans received Scholar-Athlete recognition – Jovana Babic, Olaya Bances Iglesias, Lara Marco Mas, Irena Muradyan and Alba Pedrero Galindo. Galindo has received four ITA honors, while Marco Mas received her third honor. Babic and Muradyan earned the recognition for the second consecutive year.
 
For the 11th straight year, San José State earned ITA All-Academic Team honors. The Spartans were one of 250 women's programs to be awarded the All-Academic Team honor. Programs had to have a team gpa of 3.2 or better to qualify for the distinction.
 
The five Spartan players honored were part of 1,517 Division I women's student-athletes who were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete this year.
 
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:

  •  have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
  • be listed on the institutional eligibility form
