SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State's Kotaro Murata and Kristopher Stiles earned a spot on the Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar team, announced by the organization this week. Stiles was recently named to the inaugural Black College Golf Coaches Association (BCGCA) All-America team on Wednesday, and Murata completed his first season for the Spartans, earning a 15th-place finish at the Mountain West Championship.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

- He finished with a scoring average of 73.27
- Stiles is majoring in business administration and has a cumulative GPA of 3.530
- Murata is studying philosophy and has a cumulative GPA of 3.495
- He played in 10 tournaments for SJSU, tallying a stroke average of 74.03
- Murata shot 214 (72-72-70/-2) at the Mountain West Championship
