SJSU Announces Six Newcomers to Men’s Basketball for the 2022-23 Season

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Nico D'Augusta, JT Elder, Kellen King, Kevin Simeth, Sage Tolbert and Robert Vaihola will join Spartan basketball for the 2022-23 season, head coach Tim Miles announced on Tuesday.
 
"We are happy to bring this group of fantastic student-athletes to SJSU," Miles said. "This university brings a lot to the student-athlete experience being in the heart of Silicon Valley. The next season is looking good!"


Nico D'Augusta | 6-5 | 200 | Fr. | G | San Jose, Calif.

  • Attended Los Altos High School and Valley Christian High School
  • Named First sophomore team All-League Named First team All-League in 2020 
  • Named All-Bay Area Team Honorable Mention in 2020 
  • Made division playoffs in his only year at Valley Christian which was the first time in school history 


JT Elder | 6-7 | 190 | Fr. | G | Tucson, Ariz.

  • Named Grind Session All-Star (2020-21)
  • Played two years at Phoenix Prep High School (PHH Prep)
  • Played AAU for Powerhouse (2016-18)


Kellen King | 6-4 | 190 | Sr. | G | University of Missouri – St. Louis | Brentwood, Tenn.

  • Transferred from University of Missouri-St. Louis
  • Shot .438 from three-point range last season
  • Led HS Team in three-point and free throw percentage during his senior year


Kevin Simeth | 6-4 | 207 | Fr. | Geneva, Switzerland

  • Attended College de Montbrilant, Geneva
  • Played with Meyrin and Grand Saconnex Basketball club 
  • Participated in the 2018 All-Star game of Geneva 


Sage Tolbert III | 6-8 | 210 | Sr. | Temple | New Orleans, La.

  • Transferred from Temple
  • Played in 29 games last season
  • Was the top scorer and rebounder during his final high school season

Robert Vaihola | 6-8 | 245 | So. | Fresno State | San Mateo, Calif.

  • Transferred from Fresno State
  • Played in 22 games shooting .765 from the field
  • San Francisco Player of the Year in High School
