Spartans Finish Third in Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational to Open Season



FINAL TEAM RESULTS | FINAL INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. --
 Caleb Shetler, Kotaro Murata and Zubair Firdaus led San José State to a third place finish in the Gene Miranda Invitational from the Eisenhower Golf Course at the United States Air Force Academy to open their season.

  • SJSU shot an 861 (-3) for the tournament and finished tied for third out of 23 teams
  • Shetler finished with a 212 (-4) which was good to tie for sixth overall to lead the Spartans 
  • Murata and Firdaus each finished tied for 13th overall while shooting a 214 (-2) for the tournament
  • Kristopher Stiles shot a 221 (+5) and finished tied for 39th
  • On the individual side, Alaric Mercie De Soultrait led the Spartans with a 219 (+3) and finished tied for 20th in his first tournament
  • Luigi Wong shot a 223 (+7) as an individual as well

NEXT UP: SJSU will head to the Husky Invitational on Sept. 19 and 20 at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.
