SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Josè State women's soccer team (7-6-5, 6-3-2) claimed a share of the Mountain West regular season title with a 1-0 win over Fresno State (1-13-4, 1-7-2) on Thursday night.
- Tina Estrada became the first head coach to win a Mountain West regular season championship in their first year in charge in Spartans history.
- The Spartans clinched a regular season championship for the first time since 2017.
- The Spartans share the title with Wyoming and New Mexico as all three teams finished the season with 20 points.
- In the match, Cynthia Flores scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season and Taylor Phillips picked up her team-leading sixth assist of the season.
- It was the second time this season that Phillips and Flores connected for a goal on a corner kick.
- Phillips closed out the regular season with the second most assists in the Mountain West.
- Bente Pernot made two saves and earned her fifth solo and sixth combined shutout of the season.
- With the shutout, Pernot moved into a tie for second in the Mountain West with the most shutouts by a goalkeeper this season.
- The Spartans outshot Fresno State, 14-8.
UP NEXT: Despite sharing the regular season title, the Spartans finish the season as the third seed in the Mountain West and will play Colorado College in a quarterfinal match on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. (PT) in Albuquerque, N.M. and the match can be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
