ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Taylor Phillips scored a sensational goal in the 77th minute to lead San Josè State (8-6-5, 6-3-2 Mountain West) to a 1-0 win over Colorado College (7-7-5, 4-3-4 Mountain West) in the Mountain West Championship quarterfinals on Sunday night.
- Goalkeeper Bente Pernot made a great defensive play on the Phillips goal, coming out of her box to make a sliding tackle before sending Phillips away with an aerial through ball.
- The Spartans defense was superb, allowing zero shots on goal and five shots total by Colorado College.
- Pernot earned her sixth shutout of 2022.
- For Phillips, it was her second goal of 2022.
- Sabrina Weinman led the Spartans with five shots.
UP NEXT: The Spartans move on to the semifinals where they will face New Mexico (7-3-8, 5-1-5 Mountain West). Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. (PT) on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
