SAN JOSE, Calif.—Sage Tolbert III and Robert Vaihola recorded their first double-doubles in a Spartan uniform to help lead the San José State men's basketball team to a 90-68 win over Bethesda Saturday afternoon inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.

- Vaihola came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 14 points and pulled down 10 boards for his first collegiate double-double.
- Tolbert added 13 points and led the Spartans with 14 boards including eight offensive rebounds.
- Two others scored in double figures – Myron (MJ) Amey, Jr. with 13, and Omari Moore with 12.
- Alvaro Cardenas dished out seven assists and scored four points for the Spartans.
- All 15 Spartans players saw action in the game, with 13 scoring at least two points.
- The team scored 45 points in each half.
- The Spartans dished out 22 assists and outrebounded the Flames 67-34.
- San José State is now 2-0 to open the season, the best start since the 2010-11 season when the team started with three consecutive wins and finished the year with a 17-16 overall record and played in the first round of the CBI.
UP NEXT – The Spartans continue at home with two games next week. The team plays Alabama State on Tuesday the 15th and Hofstra on Thursday the 17th. Both games tip at 7 p.m., inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
