SAN JOSE, Calif.—Haylee Nelson and Sarah Smevog led the Spartans on Senior Day in kills and digs as the San José State volleyball team lost a close four-set match to San Diego State, 3-1, Saturday afternoon inside Spartan Gym.

- Nelson recorded her seventh double-double of the season with a team-high 15 kills and added 14 digs.
- Sarah Smevog had her best defensive match of the year with 27th digs, the 26th match in her career with 20 or more digs. She also had a team-high three service aces.
- Smevog also moved into ninth all-time in the Mountain West in career digs at 1,708.
- Blaire Fleming added 13 kills and a block in the match.
- Jiana Lawson led the Spartans in blocking with seven, two solo and five assists, and added four kills.
- Brooke Bryant also had a team-best seven blocks, one solo and six assists.
- The Spartans honored four players who played their final match inside Spartan Gym – Carly Aigner Swesey, Alyssa Sugai, Nelson and Smevog.

UP NEXT – The Spartans enter the 2022 Mountain West Volleyball Tournament as the second seed and will face the winner of the Colorado State/San Diego State match on Thursday, November 24 at 4 p.m. MT/3 p.m. PT. The championship match will be played on Friday, November 25, at 6:30 p.m. MT/5:30 p.m. PT.
