SAN JOSE, Calif. - Chevan Cordeiro threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns, Elijah Cooks had 121 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Kairee Robinson rushed for a career-high 148 yards to lead San José State (7-4, 5-3 Mountain West) to a 27-14 win over Hawaii (3-10, 2-6 Mountain West) on Saturday afternoon.
- With the win, the Spartans improved to 6-0 at home for the 2022 season.
- This is the first season the Spartans went 6-0 at home since 1978 and it is their first six-win home season since 2006 when they went 6-1 at home.
- For Cordeiro, he has now thrown for a career-high 2,885 yards and a career-high 20 touchdowns this season.
- For Robinson, it was the second time this season and the third time in his career that he rushed for over 100 yards in a game.
- Cooks' second touchdown of the game was his 10th touchdown of the season which is the most in a single season by a Spartans receiver since Chandler Jones had 15 receiving touchdowns in 2013.
- 10 touchdowns in a season is a career-high for Cooks and so is 983 yards receiving.
- Viliami Fehoko recorded his eighth and ninth sacks of the season.
- Nine sacks in a season is a career-high for Fehoko
- Alii Matau also registered a sack, bringing his season total to 5.5 sacks.
- Tre Jenkins led the Spartans defensively with nine total tackles, six of which were solo tackles.
- Nehemiah Shelton had a career-high four pass breakups and tied a season high with eight tackles.
- Cooks scored the first touchdown of the game and the only points of the first quarter when he caught a five-yard pass from Cordeiro with 4:17 left in the quarter.
- In the second quarter, Cooks followed up his first score of the game by once again connecting with Cordeiro, this time catching a seven-yard pass to put the Spartans up 14-6 with 1:09 left in the half.
- Robinson extended the lead to 21-6 with a one-yard rushing touchdown with 9:46 remaining in the third quarter.
- Taren Schive made two field goals, a 26-yarder that put the Spartans up 24-6 just nine seconds into the fourth quarter and a 22-yarder that extended the Spartans lead to 27-14 with 7:08 remaining in the game.
NEXT GAME: The Spartans are going to a bowl game for the first time since 2020. It will be Brennan's second bowl game as head coach of the Spartans and he is the first head coach to lead the Spartans to two bowl games since Claude Gilbert in 1986 and 1987.
