SAN JOSE, Calif.—The 2022-23 San José State men's basketball team opens the season Tuesday night, November 8, as the Spartans face Georgia Southern inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. Tip is set for 7 p.m.

  • Omari Moore returns for his fourth season after being named a 2021-22 All-Mountain West Honorable Mention honoree.
  • Moore averaged 13.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season. He recorded the program's third triple double last season with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the win over New Mexico on February 20.
  • Moore needs 296 points this season to become the 16th Spartan in school history to record 1,000 career points in an SJSU uniform.
  • Four starters return from last season's team – Moore, Alvaro Cardenas, Trey Anderson and Tibet Görener.
  • Key newcomers joining the Spartans this season include transfers Sage Tolbert III from Temple and Robert Vaihola from Fresno State and freshmen JT Elder, Max Allen, Garrett Anderson and Leo Torbor.
  • This is the first meeting between San José State and Georgia Southern.
  • The Spartans have won their past six season-opening games including a 78-76 win over Cal State Fullerton last year.
