Now that all the projects, papers and exams are finished, the San José State men's basketball team heads back to the hardwood for a non-conference contest at Pacific Saturday afternoon.

San José State enters Saturday's game with an 8-3 record after winning at Santa Clara last Saturday, 75-64, overcoming an eight-point first-half deficit to outscore the Broncos, 46-27, in the second half. Omari Moore led the team with 24 points, while Sage Tolbert III had his third double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

 
TIME CHANGE: The January 7th game between the Spartans and Nevada will now tip at 1 p.m.
 
ABOUT PACIFIC:  The Tigers enter Saturday's game with a 5-8 overall record. This will be the fourth game for the team in the past eight days, defeating Fresno State, 76-72, last Saturday, before falling to Cal State East Bay, 79-73, on Sunday, before rebounding with an 80-56 win over Stanislaus State on Tuesday. Head coach Leonard Perry is in his second season at the school. Perry is in his second stint as a head coach after leading the Idaho Vandals for the 2002-06 seasons. He has a 2-0 record over SJSU as he faced the Spartans twice in 2005-06 when the teams were members of the Western Athletic Conference.

DOING MOORE FOR THE SPARTANS: Omari Moore continues to prove why he is a captain on this Spartan team as he leads the team in scoring and has dished out a team-best 51 assists, including nine in a win over Oakland. He averages 14.5 points per game as he is shooting a team-best 43.9 percent from the field (61-139). He has grabbed a team-high 11 steals and averages 34.5 minutes played. Moore led the team in scoring against Georgia Southern (14), Alabama State (19), Northern Colorado (20), Ball State (15), at No. 11 Arkansas (21) and at Santa Clara (24).
 
TOLBERT GRABBING THE ROCK: Sage Tolbert III has made an immediate impact in the paint for SJSU as he leads the team at 8.4 rpg. He has grabbed 10+ rebounds in four games - 14 vs. Bethesda, 12 vs. Hofstra and at Santa Clara and 11 at No. 11 Arkansas. Tolbert is second in the Mountain West and 50th in the nation in rebounds per game. He is tied for 51st in double-doubles with three. His 96 rebounds is the 37th-highest total in the country.
 
SPARTANS COME BACK IN 11-POINT WIN AT SANTA CLARA: Trailing 37-29 at halftime at Santa Clara on December 10, San Jose State used a 46-point second half to defeat the Broncos, 75-64 at the Leavey Center. Omari Moore led the Spartans with 24 points, while Sage Tolbert III had 18 points and a team-best 12 rebounds in the win.
 
SPARTAN REBOUNDING EFFORTS RANKS AMONG THE NATION'S BEST: SJSU has been out-rebounding their opponents by an average of 10.5 rebounds per game, ranking them seventh out of 352 teams ranked nationally. The Spartans average 38.73 rebounds per game, ranking 68th in the nation.
 
Four Spartans average 5.0 or more rebounds per game, led by Sage Tolbert III at 8.7 pg. Robert Vaihola is next at 5.4, followed by Omari Moore at 5.2 and Ibrahima Diallo at 5.0.
 
UP NEXT: The Spartans finish the non-conference part of the schedule with a home game against Cal Poly on Tuesday, December 20. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
