Spartans Win Final Non-Conference Game of Season

SAN JOSE, Calif.—Omari Moore led all scorers with 15 points, and the Spartan bench contributed 27 points as the San José State men's basketball team recorded the ninth non-conference win of the season with a 65-43 victory over Cal Poly Tuesday evening inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
 

  • Moore was 5-of-11 from the field including 3-of-4 from three-point range as he recorded his ninth double-digit scoring game.
  • Myron (MJ) Amey, Jr. came off the bench to score 10 points, his second game this season in double-figure points.
  • The Spartans end the non-conference portion of the schedule with a 9-4 record, the best start to the season since 1980-81 when the team started 16-3.
  • Ibrahima Diallo and Robert Vaihola each grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
  • Diallo added nine points and three blocks in 19+ minutes played.
  • San José State grabbed a season-best six steals in the game, matching the number at the Arkansas game. Amey and Diallo each had two steals to lead the team.
  • Trey Anderson, Sage Tolbert III and Moore each dished out three assists as the Spartans had 18 assists and only eight turnovers.
  • The Spartans held Cal Poly to just 26.9 percent shooting as the Mustangs were just 14-of-52 from the field for the game including 6-of-30 in the second half.

 

UP NEXT – After a short break for the holiday, the Spartans open Mountain West play on Wednesday, December 28, as the team hosts UNLV inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
