Moore, Vaihola Lead Spartans Against Aztecs

SAN DIEGO, Calif.—Omari Moore moved up the San José State career scoring list, and Robert Vaihola came off the bench to lead the team in scoring as the Spartans fell at San Diego State 72-51 Saturday night in a Mountain West matchup inside the Viejas Arena.
 

  • Moore scored 11 points for SJSU (13-9, 4-5) and ended the night with 1,053 career points. He moved past Carroll Williams (1,049) S.T. Saffold and Olivier St. Jean (1,050) into 13th place on the all-time scoring list. Moore needs 42 points to move into 12th place with Sid Williams at 1,095 points.
  • Vaihola led the Spartans with 12 points, all in the second half, as he was 6-for-7 from the field.
  • Sage Tolbert III and Moore each grabbed seven rebounds, while Ibrahima Diallo added five boards and a blocked shot.
  • Alvaro Cardenas added nine points, and he and Moore each dished out three assists.
    Trey Anderson added eight points as he was 2-for-2 from three-point range and the free throw line.
  • Despite being down 27 early in the second half, San José State used two different runs to get within 11 points of the Aztecs (17-4, 8-1) at 59-48 with 5:31 left in the game.
