Gymnastics Shines In Home Opener Sunday

SAN JOSE, Calif.—For the seventh time in her career, Emma Milne tied her school record on beam and the Spartan beam team nearly broke a school record as the San José State women's gymnastics team opened the home season with a 195.150 Sunday afternoon in a tri-meet with Sacramento State and UW-La Crosse inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
 
Milne won the beam with her 9.925, her first beam title of the season.
On bars, Milne led the team with a 9.925, tying for the second-highest bars score in school history and winning her second bars title of the season.
The bars team scored a 49.325, tying for the second-highest score in school history. The five counting scores were 9.800 or higher including a 9.900 from Jada Mazury and a 9.850 from Lauren Macpherson and Alexa Solomon.
Jaudai Lopes won the vault title with a 9.850 and the all-around with a season-best 39.125.
Three Spartans scored a 9.825 on floor – Cameron Kelperis, Lopes and Mazury.

 
UP NEXT – The Spartans travel to UC Davis next Sunday, February 5, for a 2 p.m. meet.
