SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Spartans (3-20, 1-11 MW) returned home after a two-game road trip on Thursday falling to Colorado State (16-8, 9-4 MW) 59-57 in a contest that came down to the final possession.

- The Spartans led after the first quarter and at halftime, shooting 50 percent from the field in the first period and 60 percent in the second quarter
- Jada Holland stood out for the Spartans in the first half, scoring 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field
- The second half was much of the same, with the Spartans continuing to hold the advantage, and they took an eight-point lead into the final period
- The Rams were able to battle back and tie the game with under a minute to go, followed by a pair of free throws that gave them a two-point lead with four seconds remaining and took the win
- The Spartans only trailed once in the contest and led for a total of 34:47 with three ties
- SJSU won the battle on the boards, out-rebounding Colorado State 41-30
- Holland finished the contest with 18 points and added six rebounds
- Aarion Nichols followed with 10 points of her own and pulled down eight rebounds
UP NEXT: The Spartans will be back at home on Saturday when they host San Diego State. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
