San José State travels to Sin City for a Valentine's Day game with UNLV on Tuesday inside the Thomas and Mack Center. The two teams needed overtime in the first meeting of the season to begin Mountain West play with SJSU winning, 75-72.

San José State enters the game with a 15-10 overall record and 6-6 MW mark after upsetting Utah State, 69-64, this past Saturday at home. SJSU is now tied with New Mexico for fifth-place in the MW standings as the two teams will face off on Friday in San Jose at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.

ABOUT UNLV:  The Runnin' Rebels enter Tuesday night's game with a 15-9 overall record and 5-8 MW Mark, just behind the Spartans in conference standings in seventh place. The team fell at San Diego State, 82-71, as EJ Harkless led the team with 24 points. Head coach Kevin Kruger is in his second year at the helm of the program.

Behind 15 points from Omari Moore and 11 off the bench from Tibet Görener, San José State started Mountain West play 1-0 with a 75-72 overtime win over UNLV on December 28. Moore also dished out seven assists in the win, contributing to another 18 points, accounting for 44 percent of the Spartan offense.

After the win at Santa Clara, the Spartans jumped up from 191 to 132, with the win over the Broncos. UPSET WIN OF UTAH STATE AS MOORE SCORES 27: Omari Moore scored 20 of his 27 points in the second half, and Ibrahima Diallo nailed two free throws with four second remaining in the game to give the San José State men's basketball team a 69-64 home win over Utah State on February 11 The win ends a nine-game losing streak to Utah State. The last win, 64-62, came in San Jose on February 28, 2018.

CONSISTENCY IN STARTING LINEUP: This season, the Spartans have used the same lineup for all 24 games. This is a change from past years when San José State used 13 different starting lineups for the 2021-22 season.

MOST MW WINS SINCE 2016-17: Heading into the game with six Mountain West wins, this Spartan team has recorded the second-most MW wins in school history. The Spartans need one more win to match the 2016-17 team who went 7-11 in MW play. The 2015-16 team finished 4-14 in the MW as the only other team to win more than three conference games since SJSU joined the MW in 2013-14.

MOORE JOINS ELITE SPARTAN LIST & NOW MOVING ON UP:  January 17, 2023, a day that will live in Omari Moore's history as he became the 16th player in San José State history to score 1,000 career points. There wasn't much fanfare to the 1,000th point as Moore scored the point from the free throw line with 4:14 left in the game at New Mexico. 
Moore moved into 11th place Saturday night against Utah State as he led all scorers with 27 points and enters the game with 1,131 career points. He needs five points for 10th place to join Johnnie Skinner and eight points to join Terry Cannon in ninth place. Moore would need 42 points to join Coby Dietrick for eighth place.

DOING MOORE FOR THE SPARTANS: Omari Moore continues to prove why he is a captain on this Spartan team as he leads the team in scoring at 17.1  points per game and has dished out a team-best 123 assists, including nine in a win over Oakland. He is shooting 44.4 percent from the field (154-347). He has 18 steals and averages 36 minutes played. Moore led the team in scoring in 16 games this season, the most recent 27 points in an upset of Utah State with 20 of them in the second half.
