MORAGA, Calif. – Alyssa Graham hit a seventh inning grand slam to lead San José State (1-5, 0-0 MW) in an 8-2 win over UCSD (3-3, 0-0 Big West) to open the Saint Mary's Invitational Friday morning.
The game was tied at two in the seventh when Jocylyn Vidal hit a grounder UCSD couldn't secure, scoring a pair of runs before later in the inning when Graham hit the grand slam. Mackenzie Hutchinson got the scoring going for the Spartans with an RBI double in the first inning and Karizma Bergesen tied the game up in the sixth inning with an RBI single.
- Graham ended the day 2-for-4 with four RBIs and is hitting .333 on the season
- Graham's four RBIs lead the Spartans this season and her home run was the first home run for the Spartans this season
- It was Graham's second career grand slam (3/27/22 vs. Colorado State)
- Hutchinson went 1-for-3 with an RBI plus a run scored and is hitting .364 on the season
- Bergesen ended up going 2-for-3 with a run scored and hitting .429 this season
- Vidal, Ahmiya Noriega, Jenessa Ullegue and Adrianna Noriega all scored runs for the Spartans
- Ad. Noriega went 2-for-4 while her sister, Ah. Noriega, went 2-for-5
- Lacie Ham struck out two over 4.0 innings pitched and only let in one earned run
- Ham has struck out 17 this season over 16.2 innings pitched this season
- Ullegue went 3.0 innings pitched while giving up one hit and striking out two on the way to her first win of the season
- This was the first game played between the schools.
