Spartans Upset Boise State In Overtime

SAN JOSE, Calif.—Omari Moore scored 24 points, and Ibrahima Diallo grabbed 15 rebounds as the San José State men's basketball program snapped an 11-game losing streak to Boise State as the Spartans won 74-68 in overtime Saturday inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
 

  • Moore was 10-for-26 from the field including 4-of-10 from three-point range. He also dished out four assists and blocked two shots.
  • Ibrahima Diallo led the Spartans with a career-best 15 rebounds and added eight points and one block.
  • Robert Vaihola recorded his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
  • The Spartans outrebounded the Broncos, 53-32, including 21 offensive rebounds. Vaihola and Diallo each had seven offensive rebounds.
  • San José State (17-12, 8-7) had 15 second-chance points and held Boise State (22-7, 12-4) without a second-chance point.
  • The Spartans got 28 points from the bench, led by Vaihola's 15. Garrett Anderson scored a career-best 13 points including 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
  • Down nine points with 6:41 remaining 56-47, the Spartans went on an 11-2 run to send the game to overtime.
  • Trailing by four, Alvaro Cardenas hit a three-pointer with the shot clock running down to cut the Bronco lead to 58-57 with 47 seconds left.
  • Robert Vaihola was fouled with six seconds left in regulation, making the first to tie the game at 58-58, but then missed the second to give Boise State one final three-point shot that was blocked by Moore.
  • The Spartans scored the first points in overtime, a three-pointer by Omari, and never looked back. The team led by as many as nine points on two Garrett Anderson free throws at 71-62, and sealed the win on a Diallo dunk with three seconds left.
  • The win gives SJSU the first Quadrant 1 win of the season.
  • San José State had 17 wins for the first time since the 2010-11 season. The program has not won more than 17 games since the 1980-81 team finished 22-9.

UP NEXT – The Spartans play the final home game of the season on Tuesday the 28th as the Spartans welcome Colorado State for an 8 p.m. game to be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. It is also the final home game for seniors Omari Moore, Sage Tolbert III and Kellen King who will be honored prior to the game.
