ANOTHER STREAK SNAPPED IN WIN OVER BOISE STATE: Omari Moore scored 24 points, and Ibrahima Diallo grabbed 15 points in the team's 74-68 overtime win against Boise State on February 26, as the Spartans snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Broncos.

The Spartans trailed by nine with 6:41 remaining at 56-47, and went on an 11-2 run to send the game to overtime. Trailing by four, Alvaro Cardenas hit a three-pointer with the shot clock running down to cut the Bronco lead to 58-57 with 47 seconds left. Robert Vaihola was fouled with six seconds left in regulation, making the first to tie the game at 58-58, but then missed the second to give Boise State one final three-point shot that was blocked by Moore.

The 2016-17 team recorded seven MW wins, which stood until SJSU defeated Boise State, 74-68 in overtime on February 25.

SJSU has not won more than seven conference games since 1995-96 when the team went 9-9 in the Big West, won the Big West Tournament and played No. 1 Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament.

ALL THE COMFORTS OF HOME - GUARANTEED WINNING HOME RECORD: For the first time since the 2016-17 season, the Spartans are guaranteed a winning home record as the team has a 11-4 mark inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. The 11 home wins matches the 1998-99 team that finished the season 11-1 inside Provident Credit Union The Event Center.

2-0 IN BATTLES OF MENTOR/MENTEE: Twice this season, San José State head coach Tim Miles faced one of his former assistants and came out victorious. First he faced former assistant and now head coach at Ball State Michael Lewis as SJSU defeated the Cardinals, 67-65, at the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship in late November. Lewis was an assistant for Miles for three years at Nebraska, coaching together for the 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.
On Dec. 31, Miles won again over a former assistant as he faced Ram head coach Niko Medved. The Spartans erased a 14-point deficit en route to a 78-70 win. Medved served as an assistant coach for Tim Miles at CSU for five seasons (2007-12).

G. ANDERSON LIKES OVERTIME GAMES: What could be a mere coincidence, Garrett Anderson has recorded two of his best games of the season in the overtime wins against UNLV and Boise State. Against the Broncos, he played 26 minutes and scored a career-high 13 points, was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line and had a block and a steal.

In the win over UNLV in December, he made key contributions off the bench. Late in the first half, he helped the Spartans expand the lead over UNLV from sixth to nine points as he stole the ball, dunk it and drew the foul for a made free throw and the three-point play. In overtime, he scored the final three Spartan points as he was 3-for-4 from the free throw line.

UP NEXT: The Spartans finish the MW schedule this Saturday at Air Force beginning at 2 p.m. MT/1 p.m. PT. Fans can watch on Altitude or the Mountain West Network. After the game, 2023 MW Championship bracket will be announced and the Spartans first opponent and game time will be announced then. The men's tournament takes place March 8-11 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
