HOUSTON— Pairs Blaire Fleming and Nayeli Tia as well as Meredith Scott and Isabelle Sistek each won two of their matches to lead San José State in Day One of the Southland Midseason Tournament on Saturday, March 11.
- The Spartans swept Nicholls State 5-0 in their dual before falling to New Orleans and Houston Christian 2-3 and 0-5 respectively
- Pairs Sistek and Scott, Cheyenne Rice and Jaida Ward, Teila Allen and Tessa Rogers as well as Amethyst Harper and Siena Brewster each won their matches against Nicholls State in straight sets to contribute to a 5-0 dual win for SJSU
- Fleming and Tia won out over New Orleans' Ashley Salazar and Peixe de Carvalho 21-17, 12-21, 15-12
- Scott and Sistek defeated New Orleans' Valentina Echeverri and Rita Zecchin 15-21, 21-17, 15-13 for a comeback match win
- The Spartans are now 5-2 on the season and have the second-highest winning percentage (.714) of any team at the tournament
UP NEXT: The Spartans will face Southeastern Louisiana and Texas A&M Corpus Christi tomorrow in the final day of the Southland Midseason Tournament
