SAN JOSE, Calif.
 - Jenessa Ullegue struck out a career-high 13 and Makenzie Hutchinson hit her first home run at SJSU to lead San José State (9-14) in a 3-1 win over Rhode Island (2-12) and a 10-5 loss to CSUN (8-12) on Saturday afternoon from Spartan Softball Stadium in the second day of the SVC Classic II.

Ullegue is now five strikeouts away from 300 career strikeouts and she would only be the sixth SJSU pitcher to accomplish the feat.

Rhode Island

  • Ullegue ended up pitching 7.0 IP with three hits, one run, two walks and the 13 strikeouts on the way to her fifth win of the season
  • It was Ullegue's second complete game of the season and 32nd of her career
  • Alyssa Graham went 1-for-2 with a run scored
  • Adrianna Noriega went 2-for-3 with an RBI 
  • Reina Zermeno went 1-for-1 and stole a base
  • Karizma Bergesen stole a base and went 1-for-3 
  • Aubrie Thomas stole two bases and has seven on the season which ties her for the team lead with Ahmiya Noriega 
  • The Spartans are now 2-0 against Rhode Island this season

CSUN

  • For Hutchinson, it was her second career home run and it was a two-run shot
  • Adrianna Noriega hit her second double of the season and went 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored
  • Jenessa Ullegue hit her second double of the season and scored a run
  • Graham scored a run and leads the Spartans with 18 runs scored
  • Graham and Jocylyn Vidal each hit sacrifice flies
  • Jessica Giacoma stole her second base of the season and went 1-for-2 at the plate
