SJSU Opens Outdoor Season at Cardinal Classic


Emilia Sjostrand and Cameron Tarver each took first place in their respective events to lead San José State in its outdoor season opener at the Cardinal Classic on Saturday.

  • Emilia Sjostrand took first place in the Women's Triple Jump with a mark of 13.92m (45'8"). Her mark also sets the new school record for the Women's Triple Jump just one week after Sjostrand finished an All-American indoor season at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.
  • Cameron Tarver took first place in the Men's 200m Dash with a time of 20.77 seconds in his first action since winning a Mountain West indoor title in the Men's 200m Dash at the MW Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. earlier this year
  • Sarah Mosteller, Sharli'e McCuller, Alyssa Bean and Sophie Liao took first place in the Women's 400m Relay with a time of 45.53 seconds
  • Demaris Waters took second place in the Men's 110m Hurdles with a time of 14.25 seconds
  • Lina Schubert placed second in the Women's High Jump with a final mark of 1.73m (5'8")
  • Christopher Coats joined his teammate Tarver on the podium in the Men's 200m Dash by placing third with a mark of 21.13 seconds
  • Kaylen Fletcher and Aliyah Williams joined Mosteller and Bean to take second place in the Women's 1600m Relay with a mark of 3:43.29

UP NEXT: SJSU will head to San Diego for the Aztec Invitational on March 24 and 25.
