SAN JOSE, Calif.— San José State stares down three separate Track & Field meets in three days, starting with the Mike Fanelli Track Classic for the distance squad from March 30 to April 1, the West Coast Relays on March 30 and 31 and the Stanford Invitational on March 31 and April 1.

  • Sophie Liao looks to build off the momentum from her two race wins at the Mangrum Invitational last Friday. She took first place in the Women's 100m Dash with a time of 11.64 seconds and in the Women's 200m Dash with a time of 24.21 seconds. Her mark of 11.64 in the 100m was 0.06 seconds off of the all-time school record of 11.58 seconds, set by Gabby Spencer in 2022
  • Osayi Omorodion took first in the Women's 100m Hurdles at the Mangrum Invitational with a time of 13.84 seconds. Her mark was less than half a second off the all-time school record of 13.47 seconds, set by Brittany Brown in 2017
  • Alyssa Bean and Kaylen Fletcher anchored two Women's Relay teams to first place finishes at the Mangrum Invitational, first in the 4x100m Relay for an overall mark of 45.41 and then in the Women's 4x400m on a 3:44.33 mark
  • Emilia Sjostrand recently tied the all-time school record in the Women's Long Jump last Saturday at the Aztec Invitational, matching the 6.23m (20'5.25") mark Destiny Longmire set in 2018 while coming in second place in the event
  • Christopher Coats is coming off a nice run last week where he grabbed a race win and another top three finish. He won the Men's 200m Dash at the Mangrum Invitational with a time of 21.09 seconds and took third in the Men's 400m Dash at the Aztec Invitational in 46.98 seconds
  • In addition to Cameron Tarver taking first place in the Men's 100m Dash at the Mangrum Invitational, he and Coats anchored the Men's Relay squads to two more wins, first winning alongside Roland Hammork and Jalen Adams in the 4x100m Relay with a mark of 40.39 seconds, and again joined by Zaire Waring and Harry Overstreet in the 4x400m Relay to the tune of 3:14.16 seconds
  • Demaris Waters took first place in the Men's 110m Hurdles with a time of 14.04 seconds. It was his first race win since winning a MW title in the 60m Hurdles at the Mountain West Indoor Championships, which he followed up one day later by taking third place in the 110m Hurdles at the Aztec Invitational in 14.02 seconds

UP NEXT: After this slate of meets, the Spartans will next see action on April 8 at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, hosted by Cal.
