SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Caleb Shetler, Zubair Firdaus and Kristopher Stiles each shot an opening-round 71 (+1) to lead San Jose State at The Goodwin on Thursday.

  • The first-round finish is the best for the Spartans at The Goodwin since 2015 when they were in eighth place after the first round.
  • Shetler, Firdaus and Stiles are each in a tie for 44th place out of 155 golfers.
  • Carl Corpus shot a 72 (+2) in his opening round with a 33 (-2) on the back nine.
  • Kotaro Murato and Luigi Wong each shot a 75 (+5) in the first round.
  • The Spartans were second in team scoring on the par 4's, averaging 4.02 strokes per hole.
  • SJSU combined for 13 birdies.
