FRESNO, Calif.—Matt Spear had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a walk and an RBI to lead the San José State baseball team (20-17, 13-6 Mountain West) in a 9-5 win over Fresno State (19-19, 10-10 Mountain West) on Sunday afternoon. Charles McAdoo and Hunter Dorraugh each hit a two-run home run as the Spartans took the series finale at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
- With the win, the Spartans secured the season tiebreaker over the Bulldogs as they went 4-2 against Fresno State this season.
- Dorraugh was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle as he went 3-for-5. He led the Spartans with three RBIs and three runs scored.
- McAdoo, Dalton Bowling and Jack Colette each had two hits.
- Left-handed pitcher Jesse Gutierrez pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief and did not allow a hit while recording one strikeout.
- Right-handed pitcher Keaton Chase started the game and tossed 2.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits while striking out three.
- RHP Cade Van Allen threw 2.2 innings, giving up only one run on two hits while striking out two.
- RHP Nathan Hansen completed 1.1 scoreless innings, surrendering only one hit while striking out one.
