SAN JOSE, Calif. – Lacie Ham struck out six and threw 7.1 IP of shutout ball to lead San José State (21-25, 9-10 MW) in a 5-0 eight innings loss against Santa Clara (22-21, 3-6 WCC) in a lone non-conference game Wednesday evening at Spartan Softball Stadium.
Santa Clara scored the first runs of the game in the top of the eighth inning when they had the bases loaded with one out and Morgan Salmon hit a two-run double to left field.
- Ham's 7.1 IP is a season best
- Ashley Goard relieved Ham when the score was 4-0
- Adrianna Noriega, Reina Zermeno, Jocylyn Vidal, Jillian Figueroa and Ahmiya Noriega all hit singles for the Spartans
- Zermeno and Alyssa Graham earned walks
- Makenzie Hutchinson threw out her eighth runner on the season
- This was the Spartans third extra innings game this year
- The Spartans left seven on base
- Santa Clara also had the bases loaded in the top of the sixth inning, but the Spartans fought their way out of it without letting in a run
