HIGHLIGHTS
CLOVIS, Calif.— Emilia Sjostrand won the Mountain West title in the Women's Long Jump in record-setting fashion to lead San José State in the second day of competition at the MW Outdoor Championships.
- Sjostrand took first place in the Women's Long Jump while breaking her own school record with a mark of 6.37m (20'10.75"), and then broke the record again two jumps later with a mark of 6.42m (21'0.75").
- Eve Divinity finished second in the final of the Women's Long Jump with a mark of 6.23m (20'5.25"), which tied for the fifth-best mark in school history.
- Ajamu Reed finished third in the final of the Men's Long Jump with a mark of 7.86m (25'9.5"), which is also the eighth-best mark in school history.
- Osayi Omorodion set the school record for the Women's 100m Hurdles with her mark of 13.29 seconds. She placed second in her preliminary heat and will compete on Saturday for the MW title.
- Demaris Waters recorded the second-fastest time in school history in the Men's 110m Hurdles with his mark of 13.60 seconds. It was the fastest qualifying time of the day and Waters will compete in the final for the MW title on Saturday.
- Christopher Coats won his preliminary heat in the Men's 400m Dash with a time of 46.97 seconds to advance to the final on Saturday. He will be joined by teammates Jeremiah Walker, whose qualifying time of 46.54 seconds is now tied for eighth-best in school history, and Harry Overstreet, who finished in 48.43 seconds.
- Sharli'e McCuller and Sophie Liao both qualified for the final of the Women's 100m on Saturday with times of 11.67 and 11.72 respectively. Liao's mark is the fifth-best in school history while McCuller's time is tied for eighth-best.
- Cameron Tarver, Jalen Adams and Jared Jones each qualified for the final of the Men's 100m on Saturday. Tarver ran the eighth-best 100m time in school history with a mark of 10.43 seconds while Adams and Jones ran times of 10.60 and 10.66 respectively.
UP NEXT: The Spartans will compete for several MW titles in the final day of competition on Saturday.
