SAN DIEGO – Jessica Giacoma and Jocylyn Vidal each hit doubles to lead No. 4 seed San José State (25-27, 11-11 MW) in a 7-0 loss to No. 2 seed SDSU (34-15, 16-6 MW) in the 2023 Mountain West Softball Championship tournament at SDSU Softball Stadium on Friday.
The Spartans are 2-1 in the tournament and will play No. 1 seed Boise State later on Friday at approximately 6:25 p.m. for a chance to go to the Mountain West Softball Championship game and face No. 2 seed SDSU on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
- Lacie Ham came in relief and had six strikeouts in 5.1 IP
- Ham has 117 strikeouts this season and had 60 during her freshman year last season
- Jillian Figueroa, Ashley Rico and Makenzie Hutchinson all hit singles for the Spartans
- The Spartans left six on base
- SJSU defeated No. 1 seed Boise State 6-4 on Thursday
- This is the first MW Softball Championship tournament since 2006 and the Spartans are looking for their first MW Softball Championship since 2017
