MOUNTAIN WEST ANNOUNCEMENT
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Left-handed pitcher Jack White of the San José State baseball team has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday. White, a redshirt senior from Athens, Ga., pitched a complete-game shutout against the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday, May 6.
- White led the Spartans to a 4-0 win over the Aztecs in seven innings.
- The Athens native surrendered only three hits and recorded a career-high seven strikeouts.
- He did not issue any walks nor did he allow an Aztec runner to get past second base at any point during the game.
- He earned his team-leading sixth win of the season which is tied for the most in the Mountain West Conference.
- White has had 10 different outings this season in which he has pitched at least 1.0 innings without giving up a run.
- White is the first Spartans' pitcher this season to be named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week and the fifth Spartan to earn a weekly honor; Hunter Dorraugh (Feb. 20), Robert Hamchuk (March 13), Charles McAdoo (April 3) and Jack Colette (April 10) have all been named the Mountain West Player of the Week in 2023.
