Women's Water Polo Among Top-10 Nationally In Academics, 15 Spartans Honored

BRIDGEPORT, Pa.—For the second consecutive academic school year, the San José State women’s water polo team is one of the top-10 teams nationally with a 3.56 grade-point average, as recognized by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).

The Spartans are one of four schools from California in the top-10 including Stanford, Claremont Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer.

Individually, 14 Spartans were recognized as being champions in the classroom by being named to the ACWPC All-Academic teams. To receive the honor, players maintained a 3.20 or higher cumulative gpa. The team had nine players honored as Outstanding (3.71-4.00 pg), four as superior (3.41-3.70 gpa) and one as excellent (3.20-3.40 gpa).

Hannah Henry and Clarissa Wandinger earned their fifth honor, while Lior Ben David and Bailey Stubblefield earned their fourth career honor. Elaina Davy and Ryann Lucchesi now have three honors, while Lucy Miszewski, Maiken Pardon and Lauren Woolley have two honors. Ivanna Anderson-Villela, Sina Plotz, Catie Kelly and Belene Rodriguez earned their first honor as a Spartan.
