SAN FRANCISCO – Constance O'Neal and Amelio Chio both set lifetime personal records on Friday in the San José State cross country team's season-opening meet at the USF Invitational.
- O'Neal was able to run a 22:37 in the 6k to finish in 46th place overall.
- Chio finished the 8k in 18:45.0 to finish in 41st overall to lead the Spartans on the men's side.
- Freshman Amanda Chalburg led the way on the women's side, finishing in 37th with a time of 22:20 in her first collegiate meet.
- Michael Chadwick had a strong season opener, finishing in 26:07.8.
- Freshman Alexander Walker also had a strong showing in his collegiate debut, finishing the 8k in 26:19.1.
UP NEXT: The Spartans will be back in action on September 29 when they compete in the Pacific College Invitational in Lodi, Calif.
