SAN JOSE, Calif.—The Brooke and Brooke show was in full effect Thursday as Brooke Bryant led the Spartans with a career-best 16 kills, and Brooke Slusser was one dig away from a triple-double as the San José State volleyball team defeated Nevada, 3-1, in the team’s first home Mountain West match of the season.
- Bryant hit a team-best .481 for the match as she recorded her 16 kills on 27 attempts and only three errors. She added three block assists in the win.
- Slusser hit .478 for the match with a career-highs of 11 kills on 23 attempts and no hitting errors.
- The starting setter added 35 assists for her second double-double of the season. She ended the night with nine digs, one short of the first triple-double at SJSU since 2009.
- Letizia Cammillucci and Nayeli Ti’a each recorded nine kills in the match.
- Slusser and Ti’a each recorded three aces as the Spartans had 11 in the match, a season-best for SJSU.
- Alessia Buffagni led the Spartans with 18 digs.
- Teya Nguyen came off the bench to record 14 assists, six digs, two aces and a kill.
- Jiana Lawson led the Spartan block again with five blocks in the win, tying her career-high with three solos and two block assists.
UP NEXT – The Spartans continue the homestand with a match against Fresno State this Saturday, September 30. First serve is set for 2 p.m. inside Spartan Gym, located in the YUH Complex on the corner of Fourth and San Carlos Streets. Admission is free.
