Brandi Chastain, Nick Nollenberger to Call Spartans' Match on NBC Sports Bay Area

SAN JOSE, Calif. - United States women's soccer legend Brandi Chastain and San Jose Barracuda broadcaster Nick Nollenberger will call the San José State women's soccer match against Air Force on Sunday on NBC Sports Bay Area. The match will take place at 12:00 p.m. at the Spartan Soccer Complex on senior day and it will be the first time an SJSU women's soccer match will be seen on NBC Sports Bay Area.

The Spartans will be featured on NBC Sports Bay Area for a record total of 15 contests in 2023-24, including men's and women's basketball games, baseball, softball, women's gymnastics, women's soccer and women's volleyball.

This marks the third season SJSU has partnered with NBC Sports Bay Area. In each of the last two seasons, SJSU has been a finalist for the Sports Video Group (SVG) College Media Awards for Most Outstanding Broadcast. 

Brandi Chastain

  • Chastain made 192 appearances for the US National Team between 1988-2004.
  • She is a two-time FIFA Women's World Cup champion and two-time Olympic gold-medalist.
  • She scored the World Cup winning goal in 1999, converting on a penalty kick against China at the Rose Bowl.
  • An experienced announcer, she worked as a color commentator at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics and was a studio commentator for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup.
  • The San Jose native is a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame and is one of the co-founders of Bay FC.

Nick Nollenberger

  • Nollenberger has called nearly 500 professional games with the Barracuda as their director of broadcasting and public relations since 2016.
  • He has done work for the Pac-12 Network and has been featured on NBC Sports Bay Area as part of the San Jose Sharks regional television broadcast.
  • In 2016, he was the play-by-play announcer for the Odessa Jackalopes of the North American Hockey League.
  • Prior to his hockey work, he called games with the Kannapolis Intimidators, the single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
  • The Santa Cruz native has been broadcasting sporting events since 2012.
