Cordeiro, Robinson and Smith Lead 10 Spartans with All-Mountain West Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San José State quarterback Chevan Cordeiro, running back Kairee Robinson and defensive end Tre Smith lead 10 Spartans awarded 2023 All-Mountain West football honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

This is the fourth straight year with double-digit All-Mountain West selections for the Spartans. This is also the second consecutive season with five either first or second team All-Mountain West selections as SJSU finished as co-regular season Mountain West champions.

Cordeiro, Robinson and Smith were named All-Mountain West First Team, while wide receiver Nick Nash and defensive tackle Soane Toia were named All-Mountain West Second Team. Safety Tre Jenkins, offensive linemen Fernando Carmona, Jr. and Anthony Pardue, plus linebacker Bryun Parham and cornerback Jay'Vion Cole were named All-Mountain West Honorable Mention.

Chevan Cordeiro, QB, Senior, Honolulu, Hawaii/Saint Louis HS

  • Mountain West Preseason Offensive Player of the Year (2023)
  • All-Mountain West Second Team (2022)
  • Has thrown for 2,558 yards with 19 touchdowns and only four interceptions
  • Cordeiro is the Mountain West all-time leader with 112 touchdowns responsible for and in yardage gained with 13,537 yards
  • Is tied for fourth all-time in Mountain West history with 87 passing touchdowns and third all-time with 11,976 passing yards
  • Has led the Spartans to six straight wins for the first time since 2020 and two straight bowl games for the first time since 1987
  • His four interceptions are good for seventh in the country and has thrown the fewest interceptions in the Mountain West
  • Has a passer rating of 143.5 which is fourth in the Mountain West

Kairee Robinson, RB, Senior, Antioch, Calif./De La Salle HS

  • Has career-high's with 18 touchdowns, 1,124 yards rushing and 7.2 yards per carry in 2023
  • Robinson has a touchdown in every game he's played in this season (11), which is an SJSU record and is second in the nation in consecutive games played with a touchdown
  • Robinson's 20 total touchdowns on the season is an SJSU single-season record.
  • He has a rushing touchdown in 21-career games, which ties an SJSU record
  • Robinson also has 36 career touchdowns which ties Deoncé Whitaker (1998-2001) who had 36 (33 rushing, two receiving, one kick return) for the SJSU record
  • Robinson has over 100 yards in six games this season
  • Robinson's 18 rushing touchdowns are good for third in the country and tops in the Mountain West
  • His rushing yards are good for second in the conference and 23rd in the country
  • His yards per carry is good for fourth in the country and tops in the conference
  • He's 15th in rushing yards per game and second in the conference averaging 102.2 yards

Tre Smith, DE, Redshirt Sophomore, Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain HS

  • Has career-high's with 58 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in 2023
  • The Spartans have the second best defense in the conference letting up only 354.6 yards per game
  • Helped the Spartans pass defense to second in the conference and 14th in the nation only letting up 181.7 yards per game
  • Had 10 tackles at UNLV (11/25/23)
  • Four tackles, 1.0 sacks and 1.5 TFL's against No. 25 Fresno St. (11/11/23)\
  • Career-high 13 tackles vs. Air Force (9/22/23)

Nick Nash, WR, Redshirt Junior, Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge HS

  • Career-high's with 47 receptions, 704 yards, eight touchdowns and averaging 15 yards per reception
  • Three catches for 98 yards including a 51 yard reception at UNLV (11/25/23)
  • Two touchdowns with six catches and 86 yards at Hawai'i (10/28/23)
  • Had a touchdown and 66 yards including a 41 yard reception against No. 25 Fresno St. (11/11/23)
  • Career-high 54 yard touchdown reception at UNM (10/14/23)
  • Had a 29-yard touchdown reception vs. Utah State (10/21/23)
  • Four catches for career-high 99 yards including a career-high 58 yard reception at Boise State (10/07/23)

  • Has career-high's with 34 tackles, seven tackles for loss and five sacks
  • The Spartans have the second best defense in the conference letting up only 354.6 yards per game
  • Helped the Spartans pass defense to second in the conference and 14th in the nation only letting up 181.7 yards per game
  • Had career-high two sacks, 2.0 TFL's and four tackles against SDSU (11/18/23)
  • Four tackles, 1.0 sacks and 1.5 TFL's against No. 25 Fresno St. (11/11/23)

Anthony Pardue, OL, Grad, Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS

  • Started all 12 games in 2023
  • The Spartans have the 29th best rushing offense in the country averaging 186.2 rushing yards per game and the fourth best total offense in the conference
  • SJSU had 10 games with 100 yards or more including the last six with 150 yards or more and five of the last six over 200 yards
  • The six games over 200 yards ties the 2000 team for the most 200 yard plus games this century and in the SJSU modern era
  • The Spartans have only surrendered one sack in the last three games against No. 25 Fresno State, San Diego State and UNLV

Tre Jenkins, S, Grad, Stockton, Calif./St. Mary's HS

  • Has 62 tackles while tying a career-high with two interceptions, four pass breakups and one tackle for loss

  • Parham is fifth in the Mountain West conference with 50 solo tackles
