NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—Three Spartans scored in double-figures, led by Jyah LoVett with 17 points, to lead the San José State women’s basketball team (5-6) to a 70-53 win at CSUN (2-7) in a Monday matinee at the Premier America Credit Union Arena.
- LoVett was 3-for-6 from three-point range and a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
- She scored in double figures for the seventh time this season.
- Sabrina Ma added 15 points with three made three-pointers.
- Ma led the Spartans in rebounding with a season-best nine and dished out a season-best six assists.
- Amhyia Moreland came off the bench to contribute 10 points and grab five rebounds.
- Semaj Smith and Sofia Kelemeni each scored nine points for the Spartans.
- The Spartans used a 24-point fourth quarter to secure the win and held the Matadors to just 10 points in the third and fourth quarters.
- SJSU forced 19 Matador turnovers which led to 28 points. The Spartans had 11 steals in the game, led by Sydni Summers and LoVett with three each.
UP NEXT – The Spartans finish 2023 and the non-conference portion of the schedule with a game at Saint Mary’s on December 29 at 1 p.m. San José State opens the Mountain West schedule on Wednesday, January 3, with a home game against Fresno State at 7 p.m.
