SPOKANE, Wash. – The San José State track & field team is set to begin their indoor season this weekend as they compete in the Cougar Classic Invite/Spokane Indoor Challenge on Friday and Saturday.
- This is the first of three indoor events the Spartans will compete in before the postseason begins on Feb. 22 in the Mountain West Championships.
- Junior Emilia Sjostrand returns after being the first female at San José State to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
- Sjostrand earned All-America honors after finishing seventh in the triple jump at the National meet, the first female All-American in program history.
- Christopher Coats is coming off a season where he won the Mountain West Indoor Championship in the 400m dash, setting a new program record.
- Demaris Waters also set a program record in the 60m hurdles and won the Mountain West Championship last season.
- Cameron Tarver returns after winning the Mountain West title in the 200m dash and setting a new program record.
