BOISE, Idaho—Freshman Mia Nelson and senior Jaudai Lopes won event titles Friday night to lead the San José State women’s gymnastics team to a season-high 195.625 team score at the Boise State Quad at ExtraMile Arena.
- Nelson scored the team’s highest individual score of the season so far with a 9.925 on floor to win her first collegiate event title.
- Lopes had a season-best 9.900 on vault to tie for first place.
- The Spartan floor team scored a 49.425, tying for the second-best score on floor in school history. Three gymnasts scored a 9.900 or higher – Lopes and Jada Mazury at 9.900 to go with Nelson’s 9.925.
- San José State scored a season-high 195.625, becoming the first team in school history to record that score and the 19th-highest at SJSU.
- The bars team started the night with a 48.775, as Katherine Weymiller anchored the team with a 9.825.
- Madison Kirsch led the beam team with a season-high 9.850, followed by Lauren Macpherson at 9.825.
- Devyn Valuch made her collegiate beam debut with a 9.725.
- The vault team was led by Lopes at 9.900, and Kirsch at 9.825.
UP NEXT – The Spartans host the first of three consecutive home meets on Sunday, January 28, against Sacramento State. The meet begins at 2 p.m., inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
