SJSU Heads To Riverside For CBU Invitational

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San José State women's water polo team will travel to Riverside, Calif. to compete at the CBU Invitational at the Lancer Aquatic Center. The Spartans will face UC Santa Barbara at 9:30 a.m. and CSU Northridge at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27th. 

  • Renee Fleming scored two goals in the match against UC Irvine on January 21st. 
  • Ryann LuccessiCatie Kelly, Dacy Spark, and Emma Ruzic all drew exclusions to give the Spartans multiple power play opportunities against No. 5 UC Irvine. 
  • Ivanna Anderson-Villela put two points on the board, while Rose Jensen and Lucchesi scored one point each against No. 9 Fresno State.
  • Spark scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Spartans in their 11-6 loss to No. 9 Fresno State.

VS UC Santa Barbara 

  • The No. 12 UCSB Guanchos are 3-1 this season, coming off a 10-2 win against Fresno Pacific. 
  • The Spartans have an 8-1 all-time record against the Guanchos. 
  • Their last meeting was in 2022, a 15-7 Spartan win. 

VS CSU Northridge 

  • The No. 21 CSUN Matadors are 2-0 this season, coming off a 12-9 win against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. 
  • Their last meeting was in February 2023, a 6-5 SJSU win.
