Season Highs The Theme of Sunday For Women's Gymnastics

SAN JOSE, Calif.—The Spartans swept the event titles as Katherine Weyhmiller won the bars and beam as the San José State women’s gymnastics team scored a season-high 196.500 in the team’s home opener over Sacramento State Sunday afternoon inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.


  • Weyhmiller won the bars with a career-best 9.925, tying for the second-highest bars score in school history. She is now one of six SJSU gymnasts to achieve this score on bars.
  • Weyhmiller also won the beam title with a 9.875.
  • Jaudai Lopes started the meet by leading the vault team with a 9.850 for her third vault title of the season.
  • Jada Mazury closed out the meet by tying her career high of 9.925 on floor to win the event.
  • Lauren Macpherson won the all-around title with a season-high 39.275.
  • The vault team scored a season-high 48.975, the eighth-best team vault score in school history.
  • The bars teams followed that up with a 49.250, tying for the fourth-highest bars score in SJSU history.
  • The theme of the day was season-highs, and the beam team was not left with a 49.000.
  • The floor team rounded out the day with a 49.275, tying for the eighth-highest floor score in school history.
  • The team’s 196.500 is the fourth-best team score in school history and the first time a Spartan team has achieved that score in a competition.
