Twelve Spartans Named to Phil Steele's 2023 Postseason Mountain West All-Conference Team

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Chevan Cordeiro, Kairee Robinson, Soane Toia, Nick Nash, Tre Smith, Jay'Vion Cole, Anthony Pardue, Bryun Parham, Quali Conley, Jordan Pollard, Andrew Gonneville and Fernando Carmona, Jr. were named to Phil Steele's 2023 Postseason Mountain West All-Conference team, announced by the publication.

Cordeiro, Robinson and Toia were named to the first team, Nash, Smith and Cole were named to the second team, Pardue and Parham were named to the third team and Conley, Pollard, Gonneville and Carmona, Jr. were named to the fourth team.

Chevan Cordeiro, QB, Senior, Honolulu, Hawaii/Saint Louis HS

  • All-Mountain West First Team (2023)
  • Mountain West Preseason Offensive Player of the Year (2023)
  • All-Mountain West Second Team (2022)
  • Threw for 2,773 yards with 20 touchdowns and only four interceptions in 2023
  • Cordeiro is the Mountain West all-time leader with 113 touchdowns responsible for, in yardage gained with 13,811 yards and completions with 971
  • Is fourth all-time in Mountain West history with 88 passing touchdowns and third all-time with 12,191 passing yards
  • Led the Spartans to six straight wins for the first time since 2020 and two straight bowl games for the first time since 1987
  • His four interceptions are good for seventh in the country and threw the fewest interceptions in the Mountain West
  • Had a passer rating of 142.0 which was good for third in the Mountain West
  • His 140.7 passer rating at SJSU is good for second only behind David Fales who had a 161.7 rating

  • Finished season with career-highs with 18 touchdowns, 1,194 yards rushing and 7.0 yards per carry and 99.5 yards per game
  • Finished SJSU career with 2,713 rushing yards which is third in SJSU history, 5.3 yards per carry which is second in SJSU history and 31 rushing touchdowns which is also second in SJSU history 
  • Robinson had a touchdown in 11 straight games he played in in 2023, which is an SJSU record
  • Robinson's 20 total touchdowns on the season was an SJSU single-season record
  • He had a rushing touchdown in 21-career games, which tied an SJSU record
  • Robinson also had 36 career touchdowns which tids Deoncé Whitaker (1998-2001) who also had 36 (33 rushing, two receiving, one kick return) for the SJSU record
  • Robinson had over 100 yards in six games in 2023
  • Robinson's 18 rushing touchdowns finished third in the country and tops in the Mountain West
  • His rushing yards in 2023 are good for second in the conference and 20th in the country

  • The Spartans had the second best defense in the conference letting up only 353.2 yards per game
  • Helped the Spartans pass defense to first in the conference and 16th in the nation only letting up 186.8 yards per game

  • Has a career-high 10 pass breakups with three interceptions, three tackles for loss, one sack and 38 tackles
  • Had 10 pass breakups were good for second in the Mountain West Conference and 14th in the nation
  • His three interceptions led the Spartans and were good for sixth in the conference and 55th in the nation
  • Helped the Spartans pass defense to first in the conference and 16th in the nation only letting up 186.8 yards per game

  • The six games over 200 yards ties the 2000 team for the most 200 yard plus games this century and in the SJSU modern era
  • The Spartans have only surrendered one sack in the last three games against No. 25 Fresno State, San Diego State and UNLV

Bryun Parham, LB, Junior, Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly HS

  • All-Mountain West Honorable Mention (2023)
  • Led the Spartans with career-high 106 tackles, five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, three pass breakups, one interception, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries
  • Parham finished second in the Mountain West conference with 60 solo tackles
